The United Nations World Food Programme is the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.  We are the world’s largest humanitarian organization, saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change.

Aiming to feed 13 million of the most vulnerable people with food assistance, WFP’s emergency response in Yemen is the agency’s largest anywhere in the world. WFP also provides nutrition support to 1.7 million children and mothers, and delivers school meals to 850,000 children each day.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

This job is found in WFP Yemen Country Office, Aden and the incumbent will be reporting to the Logistics Officer. & refer to other details from Generic or specific TOR.

JOB PURPOSE

To implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Establish a proper transport plan as per the approved food releases orders aiming to the efficient realization of those food requests with the competent contracted transporters.
2. Establish the necessary documentation for each cargo movement outgoing from the WFP warehouse in compliance to the food release notes specifications.
3. Monitor the loading activities by the warehouse operator/local carriers and update the tracking sheet with all the documents details for the outgoing consignments from WFP warehouse.
4. Support operational pipeline analyses, assessments, and operational planning for all delivery modalities.
5. Communicate effectively with the service providers (transporters, clearing agents, and superintendents) to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of WFP humanitarian consignments.
6. Participate effectively in the transport market research and the related information gathering activities in addition to the service providers’ evaluation tasks to realize the timely and cost-effective delivery of WFP cargos.
7. Provide specialized support to logistics operations and activities, following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.

8. Identify, resolve and/or provide recommendations on specialized queries/requests for support, using initiative and following standard processes, to ensure timely and accurate resolution of enquiries with excellent client service mind-set.

9. Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity by ensuring that monthly physical inventory of all food/non-food items conducted, reports submitted, filled, and consolidated regularly on time.

10. Liaise with internal and limited number of external stakeholders to support efficient logistics operations management.

11. Support monitoring condition of the warehouse and commodities so that appropriate actions are taken on time and timely dispatch and delivery are met.

12. Provide guidance to other support staff, to assist them in completing standard tasks to agreed standards and deadlines.

13. Prepare accurate and timely reports on the operations and send to the relevant parties.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.

Experience: minimum 4 years of relative experience.

Language : Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.
