Local Land Charges Officer

Job Description:

We are currently looking to recruit a Local Land Charges Officer on either a Part time (18.75 hours) or a full time (37.5 hours) per week basis.

The main job purpose is to process official Local Land Charges Searches and deal with additional enquiries in both standard form and in correspondence.

What you will be doing:

• To process search enquiries and complete official searches and reply to additional enquiries in a legible and comprehensive manner using in-house software systems.

• To communicate with other officers from the Technical Departments and other areas of the Council as appropriate to ensure that accurate and comprehensive information is given in reply to searches and enquiries.

• To have personal telephone and electronic contact with members of the public and their professional advisors.

• To complete full and personal searches within time limits recommended by management.

• To employ new methods of operation, including developments in information technology as directed by management. 

• To be aware of current national and local developments affecting the Local Land Charges

• To update all in-house records as required.

• To correctly verify details of the Search forms LLC1 and Con29 official forms.

• To receive and undertake appropriate training as directed by the Principal Local Land Charges Officer, including courses, visiting other council departments and attending conferences.

• Monitor searches in progress.

• Assist in to carrying out personal searches as and when required

What we’re looking for:

• Experience or willingness to learn technical administrative processes

• Ability to obtain and interpret information in order to effectively deliver an excellent service to the Council’s customers, using a range of information systems. 

• Maintain and contribute to the development of the planning database, GIS and other IT systems as appropriate.

• The ability to fully utilise standard Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel is essential, it is desirable to have the ability to write macro’s and formulas.

• Strong communication skills

• Work with external organisations / customers promoting the Council and it’s services
