Job Description:
Responsibilities are divided into two main categories: Directly responsible and Indirectly responsible. Direct responsibility include activities where the Livestock/Veterinary specialist is directly responsible for delivering. Indirect responsibility includes activities where a partner level staff is responsible for delivering, but the Livestock/Veterinary specialist is responsible for ensuring implementation by providing technical support and/or monitoring implementation.
Output: National and international policy makers and sub-national government have improved knowledge of eco-DRR and CRSA.
Build awareness among national and global policy makers and practitioners through participation in meetings, workshops and other fora at the national levels (Directly responsible)
Develop factsheets, articles, policy briefs, presentations and films based on data, analysis, lessons learned, and best practice (Directly responsible)
Film screening/presentations to raise awareness of Eco-DRR and CRSA among provincial government staff (Directly responsible)
Training workshops and exposure visits for district ANDMA, DAIL and NEPA staff to build capacity in Eco-DRR and CRSA service delivery (Indirectly reposible)
Provincial and district government staff accompany ARC staff for activity implementation as 'on the job training (Indirectly reposible)
Output: Men and women gain improved skills, resources, access to irrigation, and access to services for climate resilient sustainable agriculture and livestock.
Assessment to select main climate resilient livestock products (Directly responsible)
Participatory appraisals to identify political and technical challenges relating to livestock based livelihoods (Directly responsible)
Development of manuals and training materials (Directly responsible)
Training of trainers for project team (Directly responsible)
Support men and women to form producer groups (Indirectly reposible)
Distribution of livestock inputs to men and women (Indirectly reposible)
Training for men and women in climate resilient sustainable livestock production, followed by continuous support (Indirectly reposible)
Capacity building and equipment for para-vets (Directly responsible)
VFUs and ARC jointly deliver animal health trainings in target communities (Indirectly reposible)
Establishment of community fodder banks (Indirectly reposible)

Education & Professional Qualification
Essential:
At least a Graduate degree in Veterinary from a well-recognized University.
Work Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
Minimum 10 years of practical experience in Livestock extension.
A career path that reflects ambition, commitment and determination.
Leadership experience, including proven ability to positively influence others, facilitate participatory strategic processes, and develop the capacity of colleagues and team members.
High level of networking, negotiation and facilitation experience proven through managing partner and donor relations.
Advanced skills in developing and implementing value chain and/or microenterprise, microfinance, or livelihoods programs in developing countries, including with gender-sensitive, nutrition-sensitive and resilience frameworks,
Proposal development experience, including experience leading the technical aspects of complex, large proposal efforts;
Minimum of 2 years living and working overseas, including at least 2 year experience living and travelling in rudimentary and insecure environments; with a strong understanding of the cultural, security and operating environment of Afghanistan or a similar context.
