You will be part of the legal and regulatory Centre of Excellence and may join a Tribe or Squad using their expertise to provide support when needed.

How will you fit into this?

A Legal Counsel within the team will carry out a general commercial and specialist contract role supporting various teams within the Tesco Mobile business. Reporting into the Head of Centre of Excellence - Head of Legal you will support and provide expert advice on areas such as commercial agreements, corporate matters, sales and marketing, compliance, regulation, and company secretarial and administration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of agreements including:
  • services and supply agreements
  • software licence and support and maintenance agreements
  • marketing agreements
  • trial agreements
  • device supply agreements
  • supply chain logistics
  • tenders
  • statements of work under existing agreements
  • general commercial agreements such as NDAs and MOUs
• Advising on consumer facing terms and conditions
• Advising on legal aspects of marketing campaigns including in relation to Ofcom, FCA and Clearcast
• Stakeholder management
• Shareholder management – JV specific processes and governance
• Supplier management
• Advising on business-to-business contract disputes – small claims
• Advising on high level consumer complaints
• Instructing and managing external lawyers
• Delegation and supervision of work to junior team members
• Initiation and implementation of working practices aimed at improving the provision of legal support
• Creating template documents and processes as necessary
• Training and development for internal clients
• Compliance and regulatory oversight and guidance – OFCOM, FCA, ICO

What we need from you:

This is a highly commercial role within a high growth, exciting, fast paced and dynamic environment. To succeed in this role, you must be able to work in a dynamic environment with a customer centric focus and possess:

• Legal qualification with significant PQE
• Previous experience working as part of an in-house legal team or in the IPT team of a law firm
• Excellent drafting and business appropriate communication skills
• Knowledge of MVNOs would be an advantage
• Knowledge of the Companies Act
• A strong legal background, ideally possessing experience at a top firm or in-house, with outstanding analytical and writing skills is a bonus
