You will be responsible for providing legal and compliance support to Cigna Singapore. This position will be based in Singapore and will report directly to Head of Legal & Compliance, Singapore.

Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:  

• Advise business units on a broad range of legal and compliance matters, including identifying areas of risk and provide guidance to minimize compliance risks
• Review, draft and negotiate agreements covering all of Cigna Singapore’s activities (including drafting and reviewing insurance policies, services agreements, outsourcing agreements, distribution agreements, employment-related agreements etc.)
• Advise on data protection queries, policies and practices
• Participate and assist in projects to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are taken into consideration
• Manage various disputes (including insurance-related, vendors and employment disputes)
• Coordinate with and manage external legal counsel on legal and/or regulatory matters

• Continuously monitor and review any new laws and regulations, including any directives, notices, guidelines, codes, circulars, practice notes etc. issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (“MAS”) and other authorities which are relevant to the insurance business and to ensure that the Company's practices comply with the foregoing
• Coordinate corporate compliance strategy and implementation in cooperation with Cigna Legal & International Compliance teams
• Prepare regular legal, compliance, risk management and privacy-related reports
• Analyse and evaluate internal processes and procedures and provide recommendations to improve workplace compliance, as well as the performance of compliance investigations, monitoring and due diligence activities
• Assist with the development and implementation of internal compliance policies and procedures
• Liaise with MAS and other authorities with regards to various compliance affairs
• Completing forms for regulator and assisting with necessary filings
• Assist with risk management-related and secretariat-related liaison work
• Provide relevant legal and compliance trainings to internal stakeholder

Experience/Knowledge Requirements:  

• Possess a recognized law degree i.e. LLB or JD
• 3 – 4 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house (preferably in the insurance industry but not a requirement)
• Good drafting and negotiation skills
• Ability to perform independently and a good team player
• Strong analytical skills, solution-oriented and a commercial mind with an eye for detail
• Proactive and flexible individual with a structured approach to tackle problems
• Possess good planning, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while handling multiple competing tasks simultaneously to closure
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels
• Good command of written and spoken English
