The role: We are seeking a motivated Lead Veterinary Surgeon to lead our friendly practice as a maternity cover for our current lead vet. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ UK small animal practice (or UK equivalent) experience, highly competent both medically and surgically. Ideally you will have some experience leading a team or have a willingness to gain that experience with some close mentoring in leadership and branch management.


Salary package up to 60k depending on experience

Key accountabilities: Must have good organisational skills and leadership qualities.

Branch: Merthyr is the main town in Merthyr Tydfil County Borough, close to the Brecon Beacons and set in beautiful countryside with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area.

Our busy main practice is part of a group with 2 other clinics, Mountain Ash and Ystradgynlais. We offer state-of-the-art equipment such as ultrasound facilities including cardiac probes, endoscopy, orthopaedic equipment and much more. This is a great opportunity to work in a busy practice with a varied caseload including advanced surgery and medicine. You will work alongside a friendly team of five knowledgeable vets and an amazing support team with experienced RVN’s.
