ROLE OVERVIEW

The Lead UX designer is the figurehead of the team. The role balances project focus from a UX process POV, holding up the key problem at all times, with being a reliable touch point for the wider business and line reports of the team.

 

The ideal person in the role needs to be proactive, self-directed and excellent at communicating ideas and plans with the team and the wider business. And of course, they need to be comfortable identifying and executing the most appropriate UX process for each project within their remit.

KEY DUTIIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Guide the team in calling the plays and execute the most suitable UX process for each project briefed into the team. Absorb insights and direct solutions for empathetic, user-centred digital experiences.

 

• Keep data at the core of any project. Drive awareness of competitor analysis and appropriate research when executing project work. Bring UX/UI trends, industry strategies, etc to the conversation for consideration.

 

• Ensure learnings and appropriate project artefacts are documented in the most appropriate way. Develop customer journey mapping, empathy maps, wireframes, comprehensive content diagrams and prototypes. Delegate to ensure all versions of project UX/UI documents are complete, current, and stored/ archived appropriately.

 

• Actively monitor usage and performance of all business fascias. Be vocal about any unexpected behaviours or opportunities which present themselves via data points.

 

• Engage and contribute to ongoing usability testing and finding evaluations. Get comfortable getting face time with all kind of test candidate, whether through remote testing or guerrilla testing.

 

• Be proactive and passionate about understanding (and keeping the team informed about) current and emerging UX/UI trends.

 

• Work with internal and client teams to design and build user-friendly experiences. Participate in key internal meetings including weekly status updates and planning sessions.

 

• Be a champion for the final UI execution and ensure that we provide a high-quality end product – do this by working closely with development teams to reach the optimal outcome.
