Job Summary:

Enterprise Technology/Telecom is looking for an individual with strong technical and troubleshooting skills to support wireless networks at Disney Parks and Resorts. The Wireless & Optical Operations Engineer must be a subject matter expert (SME) responsible for in-depth analysis, testing and configuration for wireless solutions across property. Coordinates switch and access point installation, planning network outages and upgrades, critical alarms monitoring, testing and preventative maintenance. Manage network currency, security, and change management. This individual must also have a strong understanding of IP networking and fiber based networks demonstrated through past examples and be able to respond to and resolve network and wireless failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop innovative Wi-Fi solutions to merge new technologies into an existing complex environment
  • Lead implementations with various partners both within and outside Disney
  • Oversee maintenance activities of multiple vendors for wireless upgrades, GPON installations, and emergency maintenance
  • Ensure service providers adhere to SLA agreements and Disney Design Standards
  • Directly interface with industry leaders to develop best practices into design solutions
  • Provide hands-on support for Wi-Fi system upgrades, installations, and emergency maintenance
  • Provide operational design input into new Wi-Fi deployments
  • Provide level 3 support to triage Wi-Fi connectivity issues during outages and escalations including, but not limited to: hands on support, fiber-optic testing, site surveys, and system troubleshooting
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and recommendations to provide best practices around Wi-Fi & GPON solutions
  • Interpret wireless surveys and fiber test results in advanced troubleshooting situations
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for operational support of various wireless devices
  • Develop and implement processes related to Wi-Fi & GPON solutions
  • Create detailed reporting metrics regarding network performance and usage
  • Follow industry best practices to complete design reviews
  • Respond to and resolve network and wireless failures across property

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years in the Telecommunications Industry
  • 10 years experience as a Network or Operations Engineer
  • 10 years project management experience
  • Strong knowledge of GPON, Fiber-based networks, and OLT/ONT experience
  • Strong knowledge of CCNA Wireless, CCDA and CCNP Wireless
  • Valuable experience with Cisco and HP/Aruba switches to support custom vlan configurations, location based services and QoS policies
  • Strong knowledge of fiber-optic design and installation best practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of various Wireless survey tools, fiber optic splicing and test equipment
  • Experience with VoIP technology
  • Advanced experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Passion for, and knowledge of Wireless systems and solutions
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills
  • Proven success collaborating with a range of partners while understanding multiple perspectives
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey data and analysis to internal and external customers

Required Education

  • A degree in a technical related field, appropriate certifications, or equivalent work experience

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science
