HSBC is looking for a step change in how we can leverage approved Cloud Services in a seamless way and the Lead Technical Architect role is essential to ensure the secure and effective enablement of the GCP for use by the business.  This is achieved through the creation of the GCP Foundation Platform which forms the basis of GCP adoption within the organisation.  The Lead Technical Architect is part of the technical authority of the HSBC Foundation Platform and responsible for key design decision.

 

What you will be doing;

 

  • Define platform architecture and key design decisions for the GCP Foundation Platform
  • Ensure all non-functional requirements for the platform meet business needs and BCP requirements
  • Develop an operational Risk framework to manage business risk
  • Ensure all relevant architecture governance, policy, and standards are met
  • Accountable for managing engagement with Audit and all audit responses
  • Develop and promote the reuse of patterns
  • Provide platform specific consultancy to the GB\GF’s and Solutions Architects regarding the technical architecture & design patterns for solutions hosted on the GCP Platform
  • Represent the GCP Cloud Platform in architectural discussions with internal IT partners and external vendors
  • Maintain and manage all customer facing information and knowledge bases for Platform Architecture and key design decisions
  • Provide Management reporting to ensure data driven discussions for continuous improvement
  • Gather requirements and provide continuous feedback loops between customer and Engineering teams
 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

 

Business

  • Have a high level business understanding of, and the implications of Cloud adoption for:
    • Wealth and Personal Banking (inc Private Banking)
    • Markets and Security Services
    • Commercial Banking
  • Able to translate business needs into appropriate IT (and Cloud) solutions.

 

Technical

  • Prior experience as an Architect within an enterprise organisation
  • A system engineering background and the ability to compare and contrast different solutions to meet a business requirement. 
  • Ability to provide technical thought leadership in evaluation of new technologies to meet business requirements and influence key stakeholders leading to adoption. 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills – desire to solve complex problems at scale. 
  • Expert knowledge & expertise in design & engineering of:
    • Public IaaS/PaaS Cloud (GCP, AWS and Azure)
    • Integration with Public Cloud including SaaS (eg authentication schemes, single sign on systems from an application perspective)
    • Private Cloud environments (GCP Anthos, Cloud Foundry aPaaS & VMware IaaS)
    • Practical experience utilizing multiple Infrastructure as Code tools.
    • Leveraging best practise through published reference architectures
  • Demonstrable Cloud service provider experience -  infrastructure build and configurations of a variety of services including Compute, Containers, Container OS and Container orchestration (E.g. Docker, COS, GKE) Storage, IAM, SDN (VPC and XPN)
  • Experience of working with Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD) and continuous testing techniques and tools
  • An understanding of Identity and Access management principles and tools
  • An understanding of role based access controls and organisational hierarchies
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate complex IaaS/PaaS concepts to people new to Cloud Development
