Description and Requirements

BMC Is looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Innovation Labs team in Israel. The individual will be responsible for developing solutions that expand and optimize customer’s data pipeline architecture, helping to mentor some of the Innovation Labs team and give you a chance to help contribute to the technical direction we take

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conceptualizing and generating infrastructure that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
• Create data pipelines for batch, micro-batch, and real-time data streams.
• Help mentor and guide other more less experienced members of the global Innovation Labs team. 
• Be able to assist in the decision making when it comes to the technology choices and the direction of the projects 
• Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
• Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
• Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
• Create data tools for analytics and data scientist team members that assist them in building and optimizing our product into an innovative industry leader.

Must-have experience/criteria for role:

• Experience with a variety of programming languages. Mainly Python and Java.
• Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases and Data Warehouses (Postgres, ELK, Snowflake)
• Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow, etc.
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures and data sets.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets. Strong background in statistics.
• A successful history of manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets.
• Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable ‘big data’ data stores.
• Demonstrable experience of leading / mentoring a small team of engineers, data scientists or data engineers

Nice to have’s

• Experience with stream-processing systems: Storm, Spark-Streaming, etc.
• Experience working in a multinational corporation and proven success at leveraging a variety of resource groups on behalf of the business. 
• Experience with one of the large cloud providers (AWS / Google Cloud / Azure)
• Any experience with BMC products (especially related to Control-M)
• Technical experience in developing and releasing enterprise solutions to market
