Rangers play a hugely significant role at the National Trust, thinking long term to look after our special places and making a real difference for nature, climate and people. Leading the delivery of the National Trust’s Land Outdoors and Nature strategy at landscape scale; we are looking to recruit an inspirational Lead Ranger to join the Longshaw team.
Working with a network of colleagues, this role is supported by National Trust property and consultancy colleagues, alongside the General Manager and wider portfolio leadership team. The role is challenging and rewarding in equal measure, putting you at the front line of conservation in the UK and playing a key role in the Trusts outdoor ambition offering long term benefits to nature and people.
We're offering a salary in the range of £28,400 to 30,000 for this role.
Longshaw sits in the Peak District National Park and offers great variety, with the ranger team looking after 630ha of woodland, wood pasture, moorland, grasslands and species rich meadows.
As Lead Ranger, you'll be responsible for leading a team of Rangers who care for the landscape. You’ll plan, develop and coordinate a wide range of capital and cyclical management tasks and commission specialist contractors and continually develop a programme of conservation, access and engagement projects. You'll use your leadership skills and experience in countryside management to drive forward our landscape vision and ambitious plans for conservation and visitor engagement.
