You’ll lead for Universal Credit on Product Strategy , developing DWP’s evolving Product Strategy practice.

You’ll be an advocate and ambassador for good product strategy, raising awareness of the role and supporting the development of community members through recruitment, training and community leadership. You will also be responsible for Senior Product Strategy leadership within one of the Universal Credit Portfolios.

Job description

As a Lead Product Strategist, you will:

• Drive product strategy in the Universal Credit service. Be as focused in managing people as managing products.

• be involved in a range of programme management activities and will support the high level roadmap.

• Be an expert leader and manager. Have deep knowledge of product strategy techniques.

• Be responsible for impacting all changes across the service, providing a high level assessment of deliverability and where needed to reject changes that don’t support the overall product vision.

•. You will be responsible for strategic and tactical product decisions managing the development of the strategy for a portfolio, using your knowledge of the service, its future intentions and service goals to frame problems and agree priorities with the portfolio team.

• You will also be actively involved in developing the portfolio or product strategy and managing the portfolio roadmap.

• You will have expert knowledge of stakeholder management techniques, impacting all changes for your portfolio, providing a high level assessment .This will include attendance at senior governing bodies and interaction with ministerial and senior policy teams.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
