Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC’s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. 

We work in small, agile DevOps teams with colleagues around the world.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains, we are currently seeking an experienced Lead Platform Architect, Digital Channels, Wholesale IT to join HSBC Technology.

About Digital Channels

The Digital Channels team in Wholesale IT design, build and deliver online services to all of HSBCs corporate and business customers globally. This ranges from single owner businesses right through to the largest multi-national brands.  We are organised as a set of service and platform teams that work together to enable our customers to unlock their business potential. Every day the systems we operate serve millions of customers, and process millions of transactions that are critical to global and local communities everywhere.

 

What you will be doing;

  • Key focus of this role will be defining and building out our next generation digital channels platform and ecosystem capabilities across the whole of Wholesale banking
  • You will lead the architecture for our next generation channel data services. This includes a global critical data distribution mesh to deliver cutting-edge non-functionals for our API and on-line serices.
  • You will develop the target architecture and implementation roadmaps, ensuring this is grounded in achievable investment and delivery capability.
  • Work with Product and Service owners, architect peers across Wholesale, portfolio managers, and Heads of Transformation to align technical standards, architecture patterns, and architecture roadmaps.
  • Introduce new practices, processes, operating model, techniques, services, technologies and standards where needed against identified use cases, via appropriate governance bodies
  • Provide full life architecture creation support to program, product and platform engineering teams working on our overall channel convergence strategy and execution
 

Qualifications

 

What you will bring to the role; 

To be successful in this role you should have proven architectural leadership and extensive experience within the Technology sector with knowledge of the following domains and technologies:

  • Design of high-performing operational and analytic data systems, for Fortune100 organisations operating across the world, or for global Internet-scale consumer services.
  • Expert knowledge of data modelling and understanding of different data srores and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases.
  • Deep experience with relational and non-relational platforms, data lake concepts, modern ETL/ELT automation techniques, data cataloging, master data management, data governance, etc.
  • Hands on experience with a wide range of distributed data and storage system including: Spark, Kafka, MongoDB, Cassandra, Neo4J, AWS and GCP services, ElasticSearch, etc.
  • Familiar with data visualisation and self-service BI, and advanced analytic and reporting tools
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python, knowledge of Java.

Additionally, you ideally have worked in teams and are fluent with the following frameworks, techniques and tooling:

  • Agile/DevOps/SRE
  • Software design patterns for secure, resilient and global Internet scale distributed systems
  • AI/ML

The role will primarily be based in London but some travel maybe required.
