Summary
This is a brand new, key leadership role within the Loss Prevention team at Marks and Spencer. The role holder will bring together a team of diverse subject matter experts and the team tasked with managing day to day Loss Prevention operations. The role requires exceptional remote leadership skills and the ability to work in a matrix structure.
About the Role
- Lead the identification and management of stock loss and cash loss across the end to end operations of M&S plc.
- Lead subject matter experts in stock accounting, stock processes, RFID, payment, cash and fraud to develop policies and procedures that minimise stock loss, cash loss and fraud.
- Work in partnership with the Heads of End to End Stock Loss for Foods and Clothing and Home to ensure that the stock loss reduction plans are delivered and that the Head of End to End Stock Loss have the insight required to influence their key stakeholders.
- Establish & build strong stakeholder relationships, especially with Finance, Technology, Digital and Data and Property.
- Develop and run day-to-day operational activity designed to minimise gross stock movements and reduce net stock loss.
- Identify opportunities to remove cost from the organisation and take appropriate action.
- Ensure that to the fullest extent possible, costs and losses are always attributed to the correct line items, ensuring transparency and aiding decision making from end to end process.
- Be data driven and maintain a digital mindset in leading the team to identify and resolve opportunities and issues.
- Own and sponsor major business cases for investment to leverage technology and/or equipment to reduce loss across end to end operations.
- Maintain a strong external network and a reputation as a thought leader to monitor external trends, digital developments and other best practice that may benefit M&S.
- Develop and implement effective methods of educating and raising business awareness of stock loss, cash loss and fraud.
About You
- Experience and understanding of managing and mitigating stock loss, end to end
- Deep understanding of M&S end to end processes and procedures
- Strong analytical skills, with an ability to evaluate multiple sources of data
- Skilled influencer, able to identify opportunities and engage others in delivering solutions
- Experienced in leading the development of new solutions to business problems
- Skilled communicator in all forms, with an ability to distil complex information in an easily understood way and influence accordingly
- Decisive, with sound decision making processes and the ability to set own priorities and resolve competing demands for limited amounts of time and resources
- Demonstrable experience in leading within a fast-paced industry and ever-changing landscape where new technology poses both risks and solutions
- Experience of working in a matrix driven organisation
- Able to maintain a broad and diverse internal and external network
