In this role you will design, develop, maintain and support real-time embedded software applications for smart valve positioners and other instruments at Baker Hughes

As a Lead Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, developing, maintaining and support real-time embedded software applications for smart valve positioners and other instruments
  • Participating in industrial solution development including connectivity, UI, drivers, control and diagnostics
  • Working seamless with hardware teams for next generation digital products
  • Working seamless with software team for system integration and digital industrial application
  • Engaging in technical discussions, participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through global collaboration
  • Participating in hardware-software design optimization and performance analysis
  • Driving design reviews and provide feedback on design and development
  • Participating in unit testing, validation testing, and in depth debugging and troubleshooting
  • Participating in the proof of concept R&D effort for innovation and problem solving
  • Driving code review, safety review and quality review
  • Participating in product security review
  • Maintaining code quality through best practices, unit and functional testing and test automation
  • Providing engineering support for product tool chains and development infrastructure improvement, including PC based tools to support engineering, manufacturing and field services
  • Participating in development process improvement, programming standard update and code review
  • Providing engineering support for customer issue resolution
  • Being fully conversant with Company safety policies and procedures and always behave in a manner that satisfies HSE requirements
  • Ensuring that all business dealings, discussions, and negotiations are conducted in full compliance with the guidelines as set out in the Companies’ code of ethics

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university
  • Have minimum 3 years of experience in embedded software (firmware) design &development
  • Travel<10% of the time inside and outside of the US, when required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Master’s Degree in electrical, computer or control engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Proficient in programming C / C++
  • Experienced in real-time embedded application
  • Experience in uC / OS-II RTOS and IAR tool chains
  • Experience in the area of developing, implementing and validating microcontroller device support package including device drivers, boot loader, and other core firmware components
  • Knowledge in TFS SDLC
  • Experience in lower power electronics (<30mw) based embedded engineering for controller products
  • Experience in agile methodologies and continuous integration / delivery
  • Able to thrive in a multi-discipline, fast paced dynamic and global collaborative environment
  • Strong analytical and practical aptitude with the ability of fast prototyping and architecting a system solution
  • Strong hardware aptitude
