Job description

Joining our Data Centre Operations team as a Lead Data Centre Engineer, you will be part of a team helping to build, develop and maintain our growing data centre environment. You will work closely with members of our technical teams who rely on our data centre estate. In this role you will work with third-party engineers and suppliers, to manage the physical infrastructure of the data centre.

As a Data Centre Engineer you will rack, install and decommission devices. You will also act as the SME for all Data Centre operations.

Responsibilities

• To receive, respond, resolve, and complete service requests and Break / Fix tickets within the DC

• To receive, assess and complete patching / de-patching requests as well as other cable tasks such as installation and running cables

• Complete IT equipment installation, relocation and decommission requests and to applicable internal, manufacture and industry standards (server, switches, routers, etc.)

• Provide remote hands problem solving support (server reboots and visual inspections etc).

• To escort third party engineers and ensure their compliance with the site standards.

• Ensure that risk assessments are prepared and used for all tasks undertaken to ensure safe working practices at all times

• Maintaining and developing the team’s procedures, documentation, and knowledge base.

• Ensure that data centre components and assets are managed and documented.

• Manage and develop existing Data Centre Engineers

• Develop process and procedures for Data Centre operations and ensure compliance with relevant standards
