Job Description

As a Lead Business Analyst in our Commercial Technology department you will play an integral part in the development of our buying and merchandising solutions across ASOS. You will be part of the Merchandise Management team, who support the transformation of our global buying and merchandising operations. In this role, you will enable ASOS to offer the most exciting, relevant fashion to our millions of customers across the world.

You’ll be based at our amazing offices in London and will be part of a dedicated Commercial Technology Business Analyst team led by the Principal BA.  You will be supported as you continually develop your career through the delivery of business change across entire project lifecycles and play a key role from conception through to launch and beyond. You’ll also be part of our wider BA Community, made up of BAs across all our Tech teams.

Role Overview

ASOS Lead BA’s are experts in their business domain, role models in the execution of business analysis, putting ASOS’ strategy and priorities at the heart of what we deliver.  You will be highly proficient in the analysis of business issues and the use of creative thinking techniques to generate effective solutions.

Your experience in managing relationships with and between key stakeholders, including those operating at the most senior level of the organisation, is key. You are able to influence both internally and externally, whilst staying true to yourself and ASOS – and maintaining respect at all times.   You are proficient in the resolution of issues encouraging innovation, creativity and pragmatic approaches. You will play a key role in assuring the quality of the business analysis outputs and activities of your team.

What You’ll be Doing

  • Take responsibility for business analysis within Merchandise Management – defining strategies, validating business needs, conducting feasibility studies, producing high level business models and preparing business cases

  • Organise scoping and business priority setting for strategic business initiatives involving key stakeholders and decision makers

  • Drive the design process and requirements elicitation.  Using the most appropriate techniques, ensure that business needs are clearly understood and captured in line with ASOS’ standards, and obtain formal agreement from key stakeholders, assuring quality across the team.

  • Understanding any interdependencies with other tech platforms for the changes you are driving

  • Bring about significant improvements and measurable business benefits through the identification and implementation of business process change

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to help shape the processes and systems that will allow ASOS to achieve its strategic goals.  Work with the project management team to plan analysis work and highlight risks and issues

  • Work closely with developers, testers and business users through development of new solutions, leading the facilitation of user acceptance testing

  • Coach and develop more junior BAs in your team, and support BA recruitment activities in the Commercial Tech team

Who We’d Like

  • We’re looking for a tenacious and talented lead or senior business analyst, who is passionate about business analysis and ready to take the next step up in their development in a high growth, fashion e-commerce retailer.  Ideally you will have:

  • At least 5 year’s business analysis experience – ideally in a Retail organisation

  • A good understanding of Buying and Merchandising processes and related technologies

  • Demonstrable experience in managing stakeholders at all levels

  • Experience working with industry standard project management and development methodologies, including agile

  • Business process modelling and management skills (preferably BPMN)

  • A recognised BA qualification (e.g. BCS BA certification or International Diploma) is desirable
