Job Summary:    The Credit & Collection Specialist will be responsible for collections of past due account receivable balances from the existing customer base as well as some cash application functions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong problem solving qualities.  The candidate must have the ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations.  This position reports directly to the Manager, Accounting & Credit.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clear communication and customer service on collection issues to external customers and internal business partners.

  • Review and monitor assigned accounts and all applicable collection reports.   

  • Tracks past due balances and resolves discrepancies

  • High volume outbound collection phone calls to delinquent customers in a professional manner  

  • Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements

  • Reconcile customer disputes as they pertain to payment of outstanding balances that are due.

  • Identify issues attributing to delinquency and discuss them with management. 

  • Process EFT & Credit Card Payments

  • Accurately and timely cash application which includes but not limited to keying payment information, and apply allowances and deductions

  • Assist with resolution of customer inquiries through the Credit phone loop.

  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable department.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 -year collections and Accounts Receivable specific role preferred and experience with supporting a large customer base

  • An understanding of billing, collections and receivable procedures required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to complete job duties with a high degree of accuracy with ability to work independently.

  • Excellent customer service skills required.  Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills including the ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions in stressful situations.

  • Ability and understanding of the use of a computer and appropriate software, including but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and work as part of a team

Education and Computer Knowledge Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, college level accounting classes or Accounting Degree preferred.

  • Basic computer skills, intermediate to advanced excel usage
