Job Overview
The labor scheduler position is responsible for the effective and efficient scheduling and placement of production associates into the correct shift and positions within the site. In addition, the position is responsible for managing associate absences, scheduling vacations, and proper administration of time reporting as necessary. This position also requires contract labor scheduling and load balancing for work peaks and valleys.
Key Responsibilities
• Create and communicate weekly staffing requirements, including temporary staffing, for each operation according to site guidelines and in a timely manner as well as a 12-week rolling forecast.
• Administer the proper replacement of associates into positions created by planned absences.
• Maintain holiday patterns forecasts to ensure effective coverage for holidays.
• Enter data into various systems in an efficient and accurate manner. Track associate position changes and training certifications for qualified positions via area skills matrix.
• Responsible for efficient office management such as: keeping track of and providing cost center assignments to line managers for Kronos coding, employee absences, step-up pay scale verification.
• Run reports and update systems at the appropriate frequency to ensure all data and reporting measures are accurate.
• Provide assistance with time and attendance tracking tools, to associates.
• Communicates continually with peers, supervisors, and support groups to maintain an atmosphere that fosters collaboration toward all production objectives.
• Promotes, follows and enforces all EEO/AAP, ADA, Safety and Health and Worker's Compensation policies and procedures and related state and federal laws and regulations and ensures compliance within the assigned area of responsibility; consults with People & Organization (Human Resources) on such matters as required.
• May be required to work various shifts, overtime, and weekends as necessary
• Utilize staffing requirements and production schedules to determine required staffing levels to ensure meeting operational commitments with seasonal variability. Create reports on historical data and forecasting results from applicable systems.
• Create integrated database tracking tools for staffing shrinkage patterns (vacation, sick, training, etc.) to optimize staffing forecasts.
• Optimizes labor by completing time studies to Identify labor balancing opportunities
• Performs other duties as assigned and ad-hoc reporting as requested.
Job Specifications/Qualifications
Education & Professional Qualifications:
• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to handle conflict effectively
• Excellent computer skills with experience in Word, PowerPoint, PowerBi, and Excel.
• Must be comfortable around higher management
Knowledge / Experience:
• An undergraduate degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to navigate an ambiguous environment.
• Background in manufacturing environment.
• Three or more years successful related forecasting and planning experience, with strong operations background, preferably in a high demand production environment.
• Experience in utilizing and maintaining forecasting models.
• Experience in leading managers and staff professionals in workforce planning sessions and ability to develop relationships with internal customers and become their single point of contact.
