Laboratory Technician (East Plant) - Decatur, IL

This is a salaried, non-exempt level position.
 
Job Summary:
 
Under limited supervision, conducts in-process and finished product testing to determine adherence to established specifications of quality and purity.
 
Essential Job Functions:
 

• Conduct laboratory tests and analyze data for a variety of purposes, such as production, pollution control, quality control, and minor research
• Test and analyze products, such as feed, beverage and industrial alcohol, to determine if product meets plant specifications prior to release
• Release in spec vessels and report out of spec vessels
• Test and analyze production samples, such as fermenters, beerstills, rectifiers, etc., and report uncharacteristic results
• Test and analyze wastewater samples to ensure effluent is within GPSD discharge limits and report any violations
• Document results of tests, readings, etc. in logbooks and in TLC (Total Lab Client)
• Complete certificates of analysis
• Prepare chemical solutions for use in lab
• Maintain and calibrate all lab equipment and related field instrumentation
• Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, TTB, USP, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines
• Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements
• Other duties as assigned

• Strong attention to detail
• Able to understand and comply with plant GMP and personnel practice requirements
• Computer skills to utilize lab instrument operation programs
• Demonstrated math skills to perform calculations associated with lab testing

Education/Training:
 

• 2 or 4 year science degree is preferred, a high school diploma or GED is required

 
Experience:
 

• 2 plus years of work experience in a quality assurance lab preferred
