The IEO organization plays a fundamental role in delivering IaaS for the ISG Development teams.  We accelerate the pace of development to meet their needs by ensuring all critical systems are running 24x7 in support of Engineering Development while at the same time driving division wide Transformation Initiatives to modernize Engineering Operations across multiple lines of business.

Lab Support Engineering is at the heart of a worldwide lab operations team providing 24x7 lab access, service and solutions support in multiple locations. flexible, team members are always ready to adapt to the changing daily priorities. They make an impact in all kinds of ways – from installing and maintaining servers and storage equipment within the fast-paced lab computing environment, through to providing top-level technical expertise and support to engineering departmental users. What’s more, they work with engineering teams to create hardware configuration test plans in support of software development.

Responsibilities

The role is high energy, high engagement with high visibility to global teams, technologies. It provides an exceptional opportunity to obtain a full appreciation, insight and understanding of global systems, operations and processes across a global enterprise.  This position offers frequent interaction with and visibility with Senior team member. Works with engineering product lines and engineering operations to develop successful measurements to establish critical metrics and KPIs. Ability to proactively monitor and identify trends and patterns within ecosystem. Demonstrates a high degree of self-initiative. Performs other duties as required.   • Performs daily activities to support virtual and Kubernetes environments
  • Monitors critical infrastructure and virtual environment and take preventative measures to minimize service disruptions
  • Conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies, patch levels, and operating system and messaging application revisions
  • Troubleshoots, isolates and resolves infrastructure and application issues for core development applications
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all documented response procedures, including disaster recovery and escalation procedures
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the technical environment for problems and root cause analysis
  • Identify system performance issues and obtain overall health of environment
  • Identify and execute on proactive and preventative system upgrades
  • Assist with rollout of initiatives and projects aligned with system administrative activities
  • As a 24X7X365 organization shift work, holidays and on-call responsibilities required
  • Able to support and create automation to work with Kubernetes, Tanzu, and VMware products

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Strong technical knowledge of Kubernetes and containers
  • Strong technical knowledge of VMware suite of products including Tanzu
  • Proficiency in hardware, software and operating systems
  • Proficiency in monitoring applications (SolarWinds, Rancher, Prometheus, Nagios)
  • Automation and orchestration skills in Puppet and Ansible
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Customer service skills
