We have also produced ground breaking devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, Amazon Dash, and Amazon Echo. What will you help us create?

As a Kernel Multimedia Engineer, you will help build the kernel stack and multimedia drivers for various SoCs with custom hardware accelerators to be deployed in a range of Amazon devices.

You will develop software for industry standard and custom hardware IP to accelerate applications in machine learning, computer vision and robotics.

In this role you will:

Developing/modifying Multimedia drivers: this include display, camera, GPU, Codecs

Performing initial hardware bring-up and system integration

Maintaining/updating the embedded Linux Yocto distribution

Maintaining a continuous integration environment, including packaging and deployment of software releases

Basic qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of experience working on any of the Multimedia Linux Kernel drivers (Display, Camera, GPU, Codecs)
• Strong skill in C programming
• Proficient in at least one CPU architecture such as x86 or ARM.
• Direct experience with Linux kernel and/or virtualization development

Preferred qualifications

• Development experience on custom platforms using Embedded Linux and development of Multimedia kernel driver
• Working experience in one or more of these: Graphics, Display, Video encoder/decoder, Camera, GPU
• Hands on experience on Linux Android software, V4L2 Framework
• Solid knowledge of Linux Kernel internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency/synchronisation, IPC, memory allocation, file systems, etc.)
• Working experience on multi core architecture
• Understanding schematics, experience with logic analysers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers
