Are you fashion focused, inspired, with an eye for trends and passionate about hairstyling, make up and fashion? If so, this Junior Hair & Make up position could be the role for you!
The ASOS Hair and Make-Up Team play a crucial role within the production department. We are a team of fashion focused individuals, from a variety of backgrounds. You will be working with the Hair and Makeup Team to create, fulfil and deliver the creative initiatives of the Style Directors. It is our job to ensure that the ASOS models are looking their best at all times!
As a Junior Hair & Make-up Artist you will work together with your peers to bring to life the ever-evolving ASOS Creative. You’ll need to consistently be aware of current trends, be adaptable and understand the ASOS customer. It is essential that you are passionate about hairstyling, make up and fashion!
What you’ll be doing…
Produce a high standard of Hair & Make up that is true to the ASOS aesthetic and appeals to the ASOS 20-something customer
Be prepared to work to a 45 minute deadline for x2 models to be shoot ready
Follow all creative and operational hair and make-up and wider studio processes
Full understanding of the ASOS customer and target audience
Awareness of the latest and upcoming hair trends, following each seasons catwalk shows, social media trends, our competitors and street styles
Work under the guidance of the Hair & Make-up Seniors and Team Leader to produce and develop & execute the looks
Understand and translate creative changes quickly and with minimal disruption to the shoot process so that targets are met daily
Ensure that hair and make-up direction and benchmark shoots are strictly adhered to and references are correctly executed
Be responsible for your own studio’s hair & make up execution, be accountable too.
Support freelance team members with basic kit, equipment and daily process queries when required
Participate in creation of inspirational mood boards and creative decks under the guidance of senior and/or management team when required
Build relationships and rapport with ASOS models to instil trust in your hair and make-up ability and in the wider production department.
Participation of daily team tasks, end of day jobs and to help senior team members with duties when required
Be prepared to carry out administrative tasks daily
Professional presence in the hair and make-up department and throughout the studios
Confident to step up in the absence of hair and make-up artists when required
Analysis of your own technical hair and make-up execution through daily updates and openness to improve these areas under the guidance of the senior & management team
Attend creative Hair and Make-up meetings and other wider business meetings where necessary
Contribute to problem solving through meetings and 1:1’s with your appointed senior
Maintaining and cleaning equipment and products on a daily basis to ensure a professional & sanitary working environment
Engage in training and development by attending training/courses either in house or external
Participation on short and long term creative projects when require
Skills and experience you will need:
Previous session/make up assisting or basic fashion hair experience required
Previous fashion e-commerce experience is advantageous
Experience with all hair texture types Inc. basic experience in wigs, weaves and extensions required
Certified qualification in hairdressing or hair and make-up qualification required
Good standard of e-commerce hair execution
Ability to translate any brief into the ASOS aesthetic and show clear fashion relevancy in your work
Be a dedicated team player who is eager to learn and can grasp new information quickly
Excellent communication skills
To work well under time pressures
Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment and remain proactive and professional
Be able to rapidly adapt to change and stay positive
Have strong attention to detail in order for you to present the product in the best way possible
Have the eye for both hair and make-up, ensuring the two marry together to create a whole look.
Understanding of current catwalk and social media trends and how these relate to the ASOS customer
Respond positively to feedback and areas of improvement and have the ability to provide solutions where possible
Excellent time management skills, along with the ability to prioritise daily tasks
Excellent problem-solving skills
Excellent knowledge of Excel & Powerpoint
And most of all a willingness to learn, grow and be a team player!
