Job Description

THE ROLE

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, casual jersey junior designer to join our fast-paced ASOS design team. You will be working on short lead casual jersey department working across multi-product casual tops and bottoms, licence/ motif areas/ Weekend Collective and lots of exciting collabs. If you have a keen eye for concepts and delivering the latest trends then this could be the role for you!

The Design Team look for inspiration all around the world, along with street style, vintage shopping, music, art, the catwalk and all things creative, to design the latest product for the range. It’s all about newness and finding and designing the most exciting product for our 20-something customer, whatever their style.

You will be… 

• Working collaboratively to develop and design across casual tops, sweats, stripes, bodies, bottoms (for that head to toe look) as well as working on motif/ license areas/ our sub-brand Weekend Collective and lots of other exciting collaborations.

• Researching and reacting to the newest trends for speed to market.

• Using a wide range or sources including Instagram, tik tok, global trends, catwalk analysis to influence your designs and capture that 20 something audience

• Taking ownership and responsibility for an area of the range which will require independent research, product development and range building

• Working closely with Buying teams to range product

• Working with the technical team in fit sessions and to send detailed tech packs to suppliers and factories to support your designs

• Sourcing from the supply base and building relationship with suppliers

• Traveling and researching for directional and comparative trend and product direction

• Reacting to sales information and designing commercially relevant fashion forward range

•Organised and focused, adhering to the critical path to meet deadlines, ensuring product is developed within the relevant timeframe


We’d love to meet, someone…

• With at least 2-3 years jersey womenswear experience.  It is preferred but not essential to have worked for an aspirational brand or similar High Street retailer to ASOS in terms of target market or product area. 

•  You must have experience working with Jersey fabrics including lightweight and cut and sewn jerseys as well as sweat qualities.

• Ability to use CAD (Illustrator and Photoshop) to recolour prints, graphics and colour up ranges etc.

• Experience in fitting jersey garments and working with garment technicians to achieve the best fits.

• Ability to execute design technical packs to send to factories.

• Ability to research and send out exciting sourcing packs to factories.

• Previous experience of working with buying/ range building.

• Ability to manage workload and remain calm under pressure

• Adaptability and flexibility in your approach to design and daily tasks

• Ability to present innovative ideas to expand the range

• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately with colleagues, suppliers and others at all levels

• Willingness to travel in the UK and abroad for Supplier meetings and inspirational purposes. Must be flexible and energetic.
