Capita Technology and Software Solutions (TSS) are looking for a Junior Cyber Security Analyst. The Junior Cyber Security Analyst could be based in West Malling or Belfast. The role includes 24/7 shift working (12 hour shifts of 7 am to 7 pm and 7 pm to 7 am, with 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off shift pattern). As a Junior Cyber Security Analyst, you will learn the skills and techniques enabling you to triage Security events created by our monitoring tools to identify the difference between true Security Incidents and false positives. You will also begin to identify vulnerabilities across the network and identify triggers of compromise through the application of reverse engineering, packet analysis and reporting analysis. You will require a basic understanding of networking and infrastructure design which will be built upon, along with detection and monitoring tooling to identify vulnerabilities and areas of compromise.
As a Junior Cyber Security Analyst, you will receive a tailored development plan to help you develop into an experienced Security Operations Analyst and Threat Hunter. You’ll be able to proactively defect and flag remediation requirements, identify and analyse complex security incidents and work with our customers to understand onboarding requirements. You will also be communicating complex incidents, or any vulnerabilities identified.

What you’ll be doing:
understanding outputs from Vulnerability Data and identifying complex Security Incidents
creating threat detection analytics
action as an escalation point and providing technical support to junior colleagues and customers
onboarding log sources in alignment with the MITRE ATT&CK Framework
investigating and monitoring SIEM platform
tuning alerts and event sources to ensure highest level of defence
ensuring all identified events are investigated thoroughly
working with Senior Analysts (Level 3) to improve and simplify processes
working with the Threat Hunters to identify and assist in the remediation of advance security threats
What we’re looking for:
Essential:
Understanding and interest in low level concepts including operating systems and networking
Keen interest in cyber security and understanding of key concepts and protocols
Understanding of networking and infrastructure design
Programme skills - Python, Ruby, RHP, C, C#, Java, Regex (experience with all of these is not required)
System administration skills (Linux, Windows, Mac)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Active SC Clearance or the ability to obtain SC clearance
Desirable:
Some commercial experience in Penetration Testing and / or Security Monitoring
Degree educated, 2.1 or above in Computer Science or Cyber Security
