The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that applications and services in the Portfolio meet the needs of the business and are managed effectively, efficiently, safely and securely.

The responsibilities of the role will be achieved through:

  • Developing and nurturing a partnership with business leaders in the designated business area(s).
  • Developing a shared business vision with these business leaders and developing a business application strategy that aligns to that vision.
  • Responding effectively to and leading the management of service affecting issues within the portfolio.
  • Establishing and managing the backlog, working with the business leaders to prioritise the backlog.
  • Developing clear sprint plans and ensuring team members and underpinning teams are committed to them.
  • Facilitating the sprint cycle and ensuring all participants play their part in the sprint ceremonies and that outputs from those ceremonies are proactively managed from a continuous improvement perspective.
  • Engaging with BAT Support analysts and underpinning teams to continually improve ways of working.
  • Ensuring all business applications in the portfolio have appropriate ownership and are managed appropriately so they remain compliant with architectural principles.
  • Evangelise the architectural principles and challenge and evolve them in collaboration with other team leads.
  • Management of all suppliers to the portfolio.
  • Maintaining information (including ensuring others do where applicable) about the business applications in the portfolio in Greggs enterprise architecture system to ensure landscape-wide visibility.
  • Ensuring new requirements are conceptually solutioned and architected in line with agreed principles, likely in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Leading and owning new initiatives in the designated business area(s) on behalf of IT and enlisting the support, where appropriate, of other teams (technical or business change) to progress initiatives.
  • Collaborating with other BAT Leads to develop the chapter and other team leads to continually improve process, patterns of working and hand offs.

  • Energetic and thoughtful leadership qualities.
  • Experienced in the practice of application/service management.
  • Strategic thinker who puts business need first.
  • Experienced in the Scrum ways of working (planning, coordinating, prioritisation, knowing when, and how, to say “yes and no”).
  • Collaborative and tenacious in engaging colleagues and assembling credible delivery plans.
  • Architecturally astute and conversant with best practices.
  • Any experience of managing Ariba and SAP services will be beneficial as these are the core systems.
