About the team:

 Digitisation and IoT are driving new use cases for secure, reliable and scalable IoT Connectivity in Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics, Smart-Cities, and Energy & Utilities. This convergence of the adoption of Industry 4.0 ecosystems and the need for reliable, secure connectivity is driving customers to adopt 4G and 5G networks. As UK’s Connectivity Champion, VMO2 wants to lead in providing IoT Connectivity to the UK industry and help them achieve their digital transformation ambitions.

 

About the role:

 

As an IoT Business Development Manager, you'll act as a trusted partner and help enable the digital transformation within UK's businesses.

You'll establish relationships within the C suite, encouraging partnerships and innovation whilst building a pipeline to achieve sales targets. You will lead transformational change through a highly consultative and solution-based approach. Additionally, you will champion new technologies, IoT/Industry 4.0 applications and handle services to truly transform our client's businesses.

You will use your experience and customer insights to influence the strategic direction of our business in respect of our direct strategy and the propositions and solutions which we sell.

You'll get the opportunity to be at the forefront of some of the most exciting deployments in the UK, working with the largest and most complex organisations at the very highest level. We’re looking for a true entrepreneur to bring new insights to enable balanced growth for our customers as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Qualify and handle profitable IoT sales opportunities
  • Work with leadership and cross-functional peers to formulate and complete go-to-market strategies across each of the identified pivotal initiatives with our alliance and strategic partners
  • Successfully work with senior internal and customer partners to drive adoption of PoCs and successful conversion
  • Prospecting/networking to grow pipeline
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including; Marketing, Sales-Operations, Technical Sales, FP&A, Product Management/Development to make accurate, informed decisions
  • Lead & take a hands-on role in structured, detailed & compelling pre-sales engagements ensuring in-depth partner engagement throughout sales cycles
  • Build and nurture C-level relationships across key targets to further solidify position and dedication to new prospects and/or partner relationships
  • Analyse forecast, sales reporting, market conditions, and market share to find opportunities to increase growth and revenue. Focus on all target segments to drive appropriate daily activity, driving monthly/quarterly/annual results
  • Reverse landscaping the VMO2 base to identify prospects most suited to our products
  • Closing sales chances to create POCs or full commercial client contracts commitment & commercial value to use IoT services
  • Handle client expectations, collect customer feedback and identify detailed insights, feeding this into the product development process
  • Contributing to ‘Go to Market Strategy’ to ensure that our Strategy and Tactics are the best in our industry
  • Delivery against defined and agreed sales targets & achievement of Financial Metrics; revenue and profitability
  • Run all stages of a sales cycle working optimally across internal teams and client teams
  • Build and conduct proposal presentations and RFP responses in line with company procedure
  • Handle sales admin
  • Day to day account management and development of clients (once initially won)

 

Essential skills:

 

  • Highly motivated individual with a proven background in technical account management/sales, customer management and revenue management. Customer happiness and relationship management are key.
  • Experience in engaging and facilitating dialogue with C-level and senior executives
  • Highly eloquent in front of clients as well as internally
  • Ability to listen, interpret, and feedback, providing insights into the broader business
  • Experience selling IoT (Private Networks, Connectivity, 5g Use Cases, etc)
  • Must have a hands-on and agile approach
  • A phenomenal Teammate with a high degree of self-motivation to suit a start-up mentality

 

Desirable skills:

 

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical knowledge of 5G, IoT and Telecommunications
  • Experience in industrial sectors such as manufacturing, transport, utilities, logistics, etc.
  • Interpersonal and public speaking skills with a history of presenting at industry events - will be viewed as an inspirational leader for customers and sales executives.
