We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our team as an Investment Counsellor working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

Role Purpose

You will service the domestic High Net Worth (HNW), International and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) client segments in the Private Bank. The client segments have a highly diverse client base in terms of the complexity of their needs and their previous investment experience. The role therefore requires a combination of robust technical ability and strong client facing skills which allows for presentations to be adapted to the individual client situation.

Investment Counsellors are client-facing investment specialists who position the investment message of the Private Bank in a portfolio context and provide investment advice directly to clients. They work in conjunction with Relationship Managers (RM) on prospect pitches by delivering the Private Bank’s investment ethos and services to potential clients, therefore credibility with the RM team is key. Advice encompasses both discretionary services available and advisory recommendations. 

The role is responsible for the positioning / delivery of investment solutions to clients and prospects of the HSBC Private Bank, with the primary objectives of:

  • Working alongside RM’s to offer appropriate investment solutions to clients.
  • Attracting / enhancing client relationships and profitability.
  • Being accountable for assessing client needs, developing a comprehensive investment strategy, coordinating sales and execution against that strategy, and monitoring performance and appropriateness of the client’s overall investment portfolio.
  • Performing ongoing portfolio reviews to align client portfolios to their risk profile and investment objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with the RM teams, Product Specialists, Investment Services and Product Solutions (ISPS), Credit, PWS, Compliance, Risk and Marketing.
  • Know your client, increase share of wallet with clients and drive increased return on assets.
  • Improve client portfolios ensuring alignment with risk profile and investment objectives.
  • Monitor and follow-up on client investments.
  • Work with the wider ISPS team to help bring the best of HSBC to International clients and their advisers.
 

Qualifications

 

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Have advisory experience
  • Able to multi-task and collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • CFA preferred
  • RDR minimum level 6 qualification preferred
  • Acknowledged professional experience in an investment advisory role
  • Experience operating within UK regulatory environment preferred
