Job Description

Office Research is offering the unique opportunity to work in Cambridge, UK for a 12-week (or longer) internship in the development of cutting-edge technologies that will underpin the next generation of Office Engineering Systems. The Office Research team is engaged in an ambitious research program to improve the Engineering System used to develop and deploy Office products and Services to multiple hardware platforms and Cloud Service. Current representative projects combine Software Engineering Research with computer systems, HCI and machine learning research.  

 

The Office Engineering System is unique in its scale and diversity. The Engineering System manages the development and verification of the software produced by its thousands of Developers. The software is then continuously deployed to the Office 365 Cloud service as well as it’s billions of customers who run Office products on their Android and IOS phones, and MAC and Windows computers. The Office team is continually evolving the Engineering Systems based on the ever changing needs of our Customers and changes in Software Engineering and Verification techniques.

Responsibilities

During the internship you will work with an interdisciplinary team including Software Engineering Research with computer systems, HCI and machine learning research.  This provides a unique opportunity to work across disciplines as we seek to research and solve some of the most challenging problems that we are seeing in the world of Software Engineering Systems at unique scale.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Software Engineering, computer science or closely related field
  • Highly motivated attitude and passion to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Passion for Software Engineering. 
  • Excellent software implementation skills. 
  • Creative and collaborative approach to problem solving. 
  • Capability for rapid and accurate development in C, C++, or C#.
