Responsibilities

During the 12 week internship, the intern will work with an interdisciplinary team of social scientists, designers and ML researchers. They will conduct qualitative user research to tackle a research question jointly agreed with the wider team, related to the above description. They will design and run the study, and analyse and write up findings. The internship will begin during the summer of 2021.

Qualifications

Required:

• PhD candidate in the field of human-computer-research (HCI), drawing on social science (e.g. sociology, psychology) in their research program.
• Significant experience in designing and running qualitative user research studies.
• Excellent organisation skills.

Desirable:

• Experience of researching technologies for the workplace.
• Experience of researching interactive human-AI systems.
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate to a multi-disciplinary audience.
• Experience of writing for a computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) audience.
