Our client in the Basildon area is looking to recruit an Internal Sales Executive on a permanent basis. The ideal person for this role will have a solid operational background and knowledge of air and/or sea freight alongside an understanding of road freight and be looking to move into a sales role.

The main purpose of this role is to provide support to the Sales Managers and Business Development Managers whilst internally managing your own portfolio of clients.

Duties will involve:-

* Preparing quotations and contracts for potential customers

* Carrying out follow ups on quotes

* Generating leads and appointments for the external BDM's and Branch Managers.

* Being responsible for your own portfolio of customers

* Carrying out credit checks.

* Assisting with uploading of rates into rate calculator.

* Providing necessary data and reports to the sales team and other internal stakeholders.

* Arranging appointments with clients and the sales team using diary management.

* Responding to customer emails, texts and telephone calls.

* Updating all contact information for clients.

* Dealing with customer complaints and resolving the issues where possible.

* Carrying out administrative work including filing reports and presenting the sales team with data.

Experience required for the Internal Sales Executive role:-

* 2-3 years minimum experience in the shipping, freight forwarding and logistics industry.

* Operational knowledge of Air and/or Ocean freight is essential.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills and high attention to detail

* Flexible and adaptable approach.

* Commercially astute.

* Self-starter who thrives under pressure

* Good computer skills especially using Microsoft office suite.

The hours for this role are Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm
