Shaping tomorrow’s talent as an Internal Quality Assurance Assessor for the Fire Service College:

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced firefighter to join our knowledgeable and friendly team at the Fire Service College as an IQA assessing the quality of the coursework being marked for the wide variety of courses that we run.

 

Reviewing the coursework submitted and the grades awarded you would be responsible to ensure that cousework is being assessed currently and is compliant with the industry standards.

 

What you will be doing: 

  • Maintain and monitor progress against the Internal Quality Assurance Strategy

  • Plan internal quality assurance activities to ensure the Fire Service College meets the awarding / accreditation bodies standards, supporting the FSC’s ambition to deliver consistently high quality across all our programmes.

  • Develop and support Assessors by monitoring the activities of the Assessors, ensuring they have time, resource and experience to carry out assessment duties and taking appropriate action when they do not.  In order to properly monitor each Assessor an IQA has responsibility for they need to ensure that on an annual basis they monitor the Assessors in all assessment methods and update the sampling plan.

  • Monitor the activities of the Assessors, ensuring they have time, resources and experience to carry out assessment duties and taking appropriate action when they do not.

  • Ensure that the Learning Delivery Team remain up-to-date with the relevant requirements of the qualification standards being delivered across the College.

  • Working with the Training Quality Assurance Manager, maintain communication with the Accredited Centre and act in strict accordance with the Centre’s guidelines, policies and procedures in order to manage the quality of assessment process

 

What we are looking for: 

  • Must be an experience Firefighter

  • Demonstrate occupational competence and current understanding of the Fire and Rescue Service.

  • Experience of assessing internal quality assurance

  • Current working knowledge and experience of best practice in assessment and quality assurances.

  • Hold one of the following assessor qualifications or their recognised equivalent, The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment, The Level 3 certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, A1 Assess candidate performance using a range of methods or D32 Assess candidate performance and D33 Assess candidate using differing sources of evidence

  • Hold one of the following internal quality assurance qualifications or their recognised equivalent, The level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice, The level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practices, V1 Conduct Internal quality assurance of the assessment process or D34 Internally verify the assessment process
