BMS Translational Pathology and Immunohistochemistry (TP-IHC) is seeking a motivated and inquisitive researcher to intern with our group. We are a team of pathologists and scientists who integrate tissue-based data into clinical insights that enable the delivery of therapies to the patients most likely to benefit from them.

Members of this team work on various projects in close collaboration with our colleagues in Translational Medicine to identify tissue-based disease biomarkers. These biomarkers help us to better understand mechanisms of disease and therapeutic resistance, and to predict likelihood of response to treatment.

Primary responsibility will be optimization and/or validation of IHC assays to detect specific protein targets with a role in human disease. Other responsibilities will include support of histologic image analysis of the targeted analytes. With supervision, the successful candidate will plan and execute experiments that support BMS projects in Translational Pathology.

In addition to working with members of the IHC team to establish biomarker assays, the successful candidate can anticipate interactions with colleagues in Digital Pathology and Pathology teams, to learn about analyte quantification within human tissue sections. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work with BMS translational scientists and participate internal scientific meetings. Individuals with strong technical competency, who are detail oriented and have excellent organizational skills will thrive in this collaborative matrix environment.

Key Requirements:

• BS and/or MS candidate with relevant coursework and background in a life sciences discipline.
• Hands-on experience in laboratory research in biological sciences or biochemistry
• Experience with immunohistochemistry and/or histology are highly desirable.
• Must be organized and able to work well in a team setting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required.
