Summary:

This program will provide the student an opportunity to participate in a highly interactive industry-based internship within the Global Clinical Development-Clinical Science department.

The Intern reviews literature and prepares summary documents for inclusion in IB, protocols, regulatory submission documents, etc. Assists Clinical Scientist and/or Clinical Trial Physician in making recommendations, taking action and providing clinical research expertise related to projects. Assists the Clinical Scientist and/or Clinical Trial Physician to interface with project team members including: Clinical Operations, Data Management, Statistics, Worldwide Patient Safety, Regulatory and Project Management. Assists with preparation of key documents e.g. protocols, protocol amendments, Investigator Brochures, regulatory submission documents, internal or external presentations, clinical study reports etc. Assists in proofreading protocols for subsequent scientific review. Assists with organization and review of ongoing summary data including safety, primary efficacy variables, and laboratory data, as well as clinical narrative preparation.

Summer Intern will gain:

This internship is designed to provide students with an overview of global clinical trial development and will allow them to gain experience in research-based activities. Interns will be introduced to regulatory governances of good clinical practices and will engage in projects to enhance their researching, writing and presentation skills by either contributing to the development of clinical documents (e.g. sections of clinical protocols, investigator meeting materials, and journal clubs), clinical data review, or data literature mining.

Interns may also have the opportunity to gain awareness of clinical trial activities such as database and statistical plan development and other trial start-up, maintenance and close-out activities. The specific activities will depend on the timing the student begins their internship and the needs of the specific team at

that time.

Interns may orient with other key internal business partners to gain an understanding of cross-functional interactions with other departments (within or outside Clinical development and areas across the industry). Interns may be asked to give a project-specific presentation to their Clinical Development-Clinical Science colleagues.

The candidate should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a science related field. Competitive candidates should have excellent oral and written communications skills and strong problem-solving skills
