What we’re looking for:
A skilled and passionate Interaction Designer with a strong background in UI/UX to join our Customer Experience Design team.
The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) works with teams from the House of Commons, House of Lords and across the organisation to provide the IT and digital services needed to support the work of UK Parliament. We think it's important that everyone can access and understand what's going on in Parliament. Our goal is to bring together the public, Parliamentary Members, and staff to inform, engage, support, and communicate through one, unified digital core.

The role:
The work that Parliament does is supported by both public facing and internal digital products and services, including those that facilitate Parliamentary procedure, reporting and broadcasting, public engagement, parliament.uk, the development of a new intranet and security and vetting processes to name just a few.
Working at Parliament provides a unique opportunity for designers who are passionate about solving complex and interesting problems for users. You’ll get the chance to work with experts from across Parliament to understand a wide range of subjects and help to translate these into easy and accessible experiences for customers.
The Interaction Design team works in collaboration with research, design, delivery, and technology professions and alongside stakeholders to deliver customer focussed design solutions. This includes the production of design principles, standards, and guidance, and reusable UI/UX solutions that follow best practice, meet accessibility standards and are consistent with the UK Parliament brand.
To be successful in this role you will need:
Professional experience as an Interaction Designer, UI/UX Designer or similar
A portfolio that shows not only the end product but also the thinking and methods that got you there
A strong understanding of accessible and inclusive design
Experience working with and contributing to design systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions
Experience working in an agile, fast-paced environment
Strong prototyping skills and proficiency with tools (Figma, Sketch etc)
