What\'s the role about?
This is a new role within the Analytics & Data Science team, introduced to increase the focus on Location Analytics. The Analytics & Data Science Team consists of 5 parts (with this new role sitting in part ii)
i) Reporting Automation
ii) Analytics - Customer, Business Performance, CRM and Financial Services
iii) Analytics - Digital
iv) Analytics - Trading, Operations, Retail and PartnerÂ
v) Data Science
The Analytics & Data Science Team sits alongside both Research and Data Management, to form the Data, Insight and Analytics Team.Â
What you’ll be doing as Insight Manager, Analytics (Location):
The new role will be responsible for leading Location Analytics across John Lewis and Waitrose. That is creating value through the use of analytics to improve decision making within the Property and Physical Estate Planning teams.
The role holder will therefore be required to:
- Understand the internal and external data available that is relevant to the Property and Physical Estate Planning teams
- Understand the decisions made within the Property and Physical Estate Planning team, how they are made today and how analytics could help
- Become the expert on industry’s application and use of analytical techniques in improving decisions made by the Property and Physical Estate planning teams. Questions and decisions that you will be supporting include:
Where is there headroom among our existing and prospect customers?
Where are the retail hotspots? Where do we want to grow / retain a physical presence?
What impact does store presence have on online performance?
What is the likely impact of opening / closing physical locations?
What is the right size / format for different geographic locations?
Work hand in hand with the Research team to proactively deliver value from analytics, as a business partner to the Property and Physical Estate Planning directorate
What you’ll have:
- Location / town planning background
- Relevant qualification and/or extensive analytically-based experience
- Experience of synthesising complex and ambiguous information in order to drive actionable insight brought to life through communication and visualisation
- Track record of influencing business stakeholders
- Working in R, Python, SAS, SQL, Big Query or other programming / statistical languages
What else can you bring:
- Commercial e.g. online or shop trading, business consulting
- Building predictive and explanatory models
- Technical skill, knowledge and experience in the use of Big Data, data visualisation, data manipulation and enterprise reporting techniques and tools
