About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Information Assurance Professional to join our Rotary Mission System (RMS UK) Department.
RMS UK is a leading prime contractor and systems integrator responsible for a wide portfolio of high-technology programmes, complex integration activities, training provision and through-life support; projects span both the defence and civil sectors. RMS is expanding its footprint in both existing domains and new business areas. The increasing interconnectivity of the systems developed within RMS and the inherent need to protect these systems against cyber threats drives a further expansion of the information assurance engineering team. An information assurance professional is required to support a diverse range of projects across the business.
Reporting to the lead information assurance professional, you will provide information security advice and guidance across the business. You will perform threat and risk- based analysis of customer environments and will also support business development and business capture activities.
Duties include:
Design, test and implement state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database products.
Conduct risk assessment and provide recommendations for application design.
Be involved in a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access.
Use encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research.
Prepare security reports to regulatory agencies.
Required skills, qualifications and experience
Essential skills and experience:
An all-round information assurance practitioner with both working knowledge of information security best practices and technical knowledge of information system architectures, their components and potential vulnerabilities.
Experience of working in accordance with the Security Policy Framework and ISO 27001.
Experience of providing risk managed security guidance during the design and operation of secure IT systems.
Experience of undertaking technical risk assessments in compliance with IAS 1 /2 or similar risk management strategy.
Experienced in the application of a varied, context-based approach to risk assessment and management.
Demonstrable experience of developing/delivering RMADS and supporting accreditation processes.
Working knowledge of HMG Good Practice Guides, Information Assurance Policies, and the Security Policy Framework.
Experience of working in Government / MOD environments.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
Desired skills and experience:
Knowledge of: Internet Security Trends, Firewall products, Access Control devices, and encryption products.
A holder or member of a professional Information Security Certification (e.g. IISP, ITPC, CISSP, CISSM, CCP).
Experience of applying information assurance principles during systems development and integration.
Stakeholder management and customer facing skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills: able to communicate Information Security principles at the tactical and operational level of the organisation.
