Summary

Digital, Commercial and Information Directorate (DCID) brings together professional experts in digital technology, commercial services, security, information management and operational process transformation to deliver high quality services to the CPS.

The Security and Information Assurance Division (SIAD) consists of a number of separate teams but all interlink within DCID who provide holistic advice and guidance on all aspects of security and information assurance to the organisation. The Division is made up of the following teams:

Operational Security Team (OST)

Records Management Team (RMT)

Data Protection Compliance Team (DPCT)

Information Access Team (IAT)

Cyber Security Team (CST)

Information Architecture (IA)

We have a number of exciting Information Management Advisor roles based in the following teams:

Operational Security Team which provide specialist advice in the implementation and maintenance of personnel, physical and information security standards within the CPS, and assisting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) with breach investigations.

Cyber Security Team which provides specialist advice on cyber risk management and day to day operations (e.g. questions around secure digital data systems and devices) as well as strategy and policy.

Information Architecture which provides specialist advice and guidance on information management standards; responsible for the development and application of policies and procedures that supports the Department’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

Job description

To provide administrative support to the Senior Security Advisor (SSA) and act as the initial contact for the Security Team and deal with enquiries.

 

Ensure filing systems and databases remain up to date and relevant, and information is stored in line with current retention schedules.

Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of CPS Security policies to CPS staff and promulgate best practice on all aspects of departmental security.

 

The role of the Advisor for Security Team requires an ‘SC’ clearance check to have been undertaken and passed prior to working on the unit.

Responsibilities

The main duties of the role are as follows:

Maintain an up to date knowledge of current security policy in order to provide appropriate advice and guidance to area and HQ staff in all formats - verbally, electronically and in writing.

 

Ensuring existing policies, procedures and documentation are kept up to date to reflect current Government Security Group (GSG)

First line support for incident management. Ensure all reported incidents are logged and allocated promptly and maintain accurate records.

 

Follow up and investigate incidents where necessary and support Managers in preparing updates and monitoring integrity investigations.

Assist with the planning and facilitation of Security & Information Manager (SIM) training events, including arranging venues, producing and distributing relevant training aides and materials prior to course attendance.

 

To support the Management and act as an initial point of contact for SIM’s on all aspects of physical, personnel and IT and information management security.

 

To prepare accurate and timely reports summarising compliance with Government Security standards.

Liaison with external security bodies e.g. Cabinet Office and National Crime Agency (NCA); regional police forces etc. in order to seek appropriate advice, information and services to support the CPS Security function.

This is a full-time post. However, requests for flexible, part-time working and job share will be considered, considering at all times the operational needs of the Department.

Candidates who are recommended by the selection panel but not appointed to the current vacancy will be placed on a waiting list for 12 months and may be offered another post, should any further vacancies for a Information Management Advisor arise in Digital Commercial and Information Directorate during this period. CPS may also approach candidates on the waiting list to fill other Digital Commercial and Information Directorate roles requiring similar knowledge and experience.
