Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and analysis of labor rates, capacity analysis, line balancing, and processing equipment evaluation tools for the Mercury Parts and Accessories Distribution Fulfillment and Repacking Operations. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows and other information to understand the manufacturing methods and activities
  • Document, analyze, and conduct and time and motion studies to develop engineered labor standards.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing routings through routine process performance audits, completed across multiple shifts of production
  • Work towards Quality and cost goals within specific cost centers to contribute to the organization’s broader goals
  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine production system capacities, capabilities, labor requirements and mix-model production flow
  • Lead cross functional teams that continually review manufacturing operations to define and improve inefficiencies and ergonomic improvement opportunities.
  • Perform data collection activities to create and maintain cycle time and line balance studies of new and existing product lines to support production performance analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop, prepare, and present costing quotes, as necessary, to support cost benefit analysis for continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain and promote a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to company rules and policies
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using computer aided drafting software
  • Assist in the leadership and development of a visual factory, process flow, streamlining processes, SPC charting, setup times, and lean tools.
  • Investigate, propose and manage capital projects for current application and long term capacity requirements.

  • Must possess good knowledge of process flow and development strategies as related to manufacturing systems
  • Demonstrate solid background of execution
  • Has good working knowledge of quality systems and analysis tools as related to continuous improvement
  • Understanding and ability to facilitate common problem solving and analysis tools such as, but not limited to, PFMEA, Cause and Effect, and Process flow
  • Solid computer skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and SPC Excel, and other analysis tools and software programs
  • Have a sense of urgency and can devise new approaches to problems encountered
  • Ability to make independent judgments regarding technical issues
  • Can implement company and departmental goals within a team structure that can span from a cost center level to plant and interplant wide scope
  • Can independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected
  • Perform work with minimal supervision required
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Solid comprehension and listening skills

Baseline Skill Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline from a four-year college or university
  • 3-5 Years of relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Experience with time and motion studies and creating labor standards.
  • Proficient in lean manufacturing tools and strategies, and process improvement methodologies
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and documents
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software is desired
  • Ability to operate as an agent of change for process, procedures, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, careful attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain a high level of focus & flexibility
  • Good written and oral communication to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with WMS labor management system module is a plus.
