The responsibility of this role is to lead the Controller Function for all Citigroup legal entities based in India. The entities operate in a complex environment and offer products across Citi’s GCB and ICG businesses.

This function is responsible for the accurate and timely production of financial reporting, management reporting and regulatory reporting. Core responsibilities include maintaining a strong control environment over reporting, legal entity management and governance, participating in product approvals, representing finance in governance forums etc. In discharging these responsibilities, the Country Controller works closely with diverse stakeholders across businesses and functions, within the country and region, in the offshore Citi Service Centres (CSCs), and externally with auditors and regulators.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Manage financial accounting functions for all bank and broker/dealer entities in the country
• Manage regulatory reporting required by Citi’s regulators in the country
• Ensure that accounting and reporting complies with local accounting / IFRS, Citi policies and local regulatory requirements
• Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy for all forms of reporting
• Ensure that reporting is occurring within a strong and effective control environment, with issue identification and remediation occurring in a timely fashion
• Manage reporting process to ensure that the internal, statutory, and regulatory audits of legal entities are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner
• Work closely with our CSC partners to fulfil local reporting responsibilities
• Develop and implement reporting process improvements including automation and re-engineering of activities
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, internal auditors, and external auditor
• Build and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders in businesses, functions, and geographies
• Active participation in governance forums such as Accounts Review Forum, and Local Regulatory Reporting Committee
• Effectively manage the country controllership team to deliver on key finance strategy and reporting obligations
• Manage Projects – Represent Controllers in the many projects affecting the businesses as well as finance-only projects, participate and lead the team in supporting Finance’s transformation programs

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

• 12-15 years relevant experience
• Bachelor Degree in Accountancy or equivalent, Chartered Accountant or CPA preferred

Technical/Specialist skills/competencies

• Strong understanding of Citigroup financial reporting – US reporting process (FDL/ FRS)
• Strong understanding of US GAAP
• Strong understanding of IFRS, Local GAAP and Local Regulatory Reporting requirements
• Strong understanding of internal control procedures and compliance requirements
