Job Description
You will be helping to deal principally with the company’s substantial UK commercial property portfolio and the diversity of work that encompasses. Additionally, the role offers the opportunity to diversify into other aspects of legal work within a variety of the business’ activities. You will work closely with colleagues in the business on various commercial matters, including provision of information and advice on wide-ranging legal queries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dealing with all aspects of leasehold acquisitions, lease renewals and general estate management including advising on agreements for lease, leases, licences to alter, collateral warranties, agreements to surrender, surrenders, break notices, dilapidations settlements and other ancillary documents;
- Handling 1954 Act lease renewal procedures involving advising and dealing with section 25, 26 and 27 notices and applications to the Court under Part II of the 1954 Act;
- Assisting with the submission of SDLT returns and Land Registry applications;
- Advising on general commercial matters including supplier contracts, terms and conditions, data protection, customer complaints and general regulatory advice;
- Other ad-hoc legal and general business support as required.
About you
- A qualified solicitor in England and Wales with at least 1 years’ PQE specialising in commercial property matters;
- Property litigation, non-contentious construction or general commercial experience an advantage but not essential and we would be particularly interested to hear from dual qualified Scottish/English solicitors but this is not a prerequisite;
- Retail experience an advantage but not essential;
- Strong technical ability;
- Confident and commercially minded;
- Customer focused;
- Good interpersonal skills with an ability to develop strong internal and external relationships;
- Great communication skills;
- Willingness to manage own personal and professional development with support from the business.
