MoD is a world class organisation that delivers intelligence assessment, specialist outputs and advice to support UK Defence and strategic decision makers across government. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Cyber Assessment Mission Team, a key part of DI as a Human Sciences (HS) analyst based in London.
This position is advertised at 36/37 hours per week Tacos Dependant.
The HS sub-section is a unique capability within the intelligence community. The post holder will be producing high quality HS all-source assessments that improve defence’s understanding of military systems. The changing demands of the work will mean the role will require flexibility to focus on an array of systems across a range of countries and regional areas. This is a slower paced role requiring the post-holder to work on several long-term projects across a broad portfolio, whilst developing subject matter expertise. Your time will be spent primarily focusing on detailed analysis and providing psychological insights to technical assessments.
We are looking for someone who enjoys detailed work such as literature reviews and analysis as this is the core nature of the role. Additional tasks will include contributing to the design and implementation of exciting research trials; and supporting the development of HS methodologies and tools to employ within the team.
It is crucial that the postholder is able to maintain good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and customers. This includes technical Subject Matter Experts, cyber practitioners and human scientists both within UK defence and across our international partners. These interactions will be across all grades including very senior personnel.
We are very passionate about learning and development within the Cyber Assessment Mission Team. With opportunities to attend human/social science conferences, events, and training. We also support further education and chartership applicable to the role. Whilst detailed technical cyber knowledge is not required, they would be expected to demonstrate a basic understanding of the cyber environment. It is recognised that cyber assessment is a niche skill within Defence. As such, the Cyber Assessment Mission Team are fully committed to supporting new starters by providing quality cyber training.
Essential:
Competent at conducting detailed literature reviews.
Transferable analytical skills.
Minimum of 2 years applicable professional work experience from the behavioural or social sciences.
A formal academic qualification at master’s level or equivalent in behavioural or social sciences.
Ability to use both verbal and written communication with senior stakeholders.
Ability to present to both large and formal audiences.
Capture customer requirements and identify gaps that could be supported with assessment.
Ability to work independently towards your own objectives and to support team objectives.
Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
Desirable:
All Source analytical experience, including understanding the intelligence analysis skills and processes.
An understanding of military systems and processes.
Suitable professional work experience from a defence or government setting.
