In August of 2017, Georgia Power selected Bechtel to complete the construction of the two-reactor expansion of a nuclear power plant near Augusta, Georgia. Plant Vogtle Units 3 & 4 will be the first new units built in the U.S. in the last three decades and are currently the only new units being constructed in the country. All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment. The ability to obtain/maintain access to the facility is required.
Role Overview:
Performs a variety of human resources services that require a general knowledge of human resources principles and practices in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Receives functional and operational direction from the Project Human Resources Manager.
This is a Short-Term Assignment.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs a variety of Human Resources support activities: such as staffing, relocation guidance, employee processing, staff augmentation placement, new employee orientation, employee relations, performance management administration, de-staffing activities, reporting and metrics.
Implements human resources policies, procedures, and programs; monitors and evaluates programs and recommends changes when necessary.
Advises line management on human resources programs and policy interpretation and aids in understanding Human Resources programs. (For example, policies involving staffing, salary administration, etc.).
Prepares Exception to Policy (ETP) requests prior to final review and sign-off by Project HR Manager.
Assists with Total Compensation activities and other Bechtel Corporative initiatives.
Participates in the process and assist in resolving employee relation concerns.
Collects and prepares data or information for project reports and metrics; data analysis and recommendations on development to support achieving project goals. Identifies opportunities to improve human resources processes and provide greater value to project customers. Develops and implements project programs designed to promote growth and development, retention, and inclusion.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with a minimum of 6 years of related progressive HR professional experience. In lieu of degree, 12 years of related progressive HR professional experience.
Experience in several Human Resources disciplines (Staffing, Employee Relations, Compensation, Talent Management, etc.).
Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions and outlining actions to be performed.
Proficient in SmartStaff, Power BI, SAP, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.
Minimum Qualifications:
Prior HR generalist experience.
Prior experience in the interpretation and implementation of HR policies.
Working knowledge of laws affecting Human Resources.
Strong organization and analytical skills - proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Must possess a proven record as a team player and the ability to handle difficult situations and personnel in a professional manner.
Must be able to work effectively with senior management and others at all levels of the organization.
Maintain confidentiality, exercise a high degree of individual initiative, discretion, diplomacy, judgment and accuracy.
Work well under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
SPHR or PHR certification is desirable.
