The Human Resource Generalist performs professional level human resources duties in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, diversity and inclusion, affirmative action and employment compliance. Works closely with senior HR management to provide services for a designated geographic region and shared services.
​Supports the Talent Management Team with sourcing and retention efforts:
Attends local job fairs and partners with various community organizations to increase recruiting.
Partners with Talent Management Sourcing to assist in hard to fill position.
Ensures that hiring managers complete Interview Skills Training.
Collaborates on workforce planning.
Administers internal posting/offer process and translates that to design or deliver HR solutions.
Oversees or participates in various events including training, wellness, orientation, open enrollment, fairs, and other division HR events.
Implement retention strategies such as 45 Day HR Feedback Sessions, Stay Interviews, etc.
Onboards new employees from offer through 90 days, ensuring paperwork completion, screenings and tests, orientation day, benefits review, and introduction to Gordon Food Service policies, procedures and culture.

Generalist duties include:
Educates leadership on the Performance Management process, understands and leverages the Talent Management Suite, coaches employees and managers on basic employee relations, practice or policy issues, promotes the open door policy. Responds to and investigates complaints.
Serves as the liaison/HR business partner between various HR Shared Services and the division. Understands the business.
Promotes and educates on the Gordon Food Service Leadership Development initiatives. Facilitates training and monitors required leadership training and development for completion. Utilizes TMS and LMS to manage learning and development activities.
Plans and supports benefits enrollment processes as well as educating employees and leaders on Gordon Food Service retirement plans, benefits and wellness initiatives, and questions.
Understands, promotes and supports the Gordon Food Service Diversity and Inclusion vision, guiding principles, and initiatives.
Supports the management and administration of Workers Compensation, short and long term disability, and FMLA. Involved in decision making process regarding claim activities and denials, return to work process, serves as point of contact with employee, manager and Shared Service.
Provides insights on how to interpret HR metrics such as turnover, new hires, diversity, Departure View and AAP.
May perform administrative functions related to general human resources responsibilities to include processing unemployment claims, managing the training database, entering new hires and others as required.
Evaluates third-party vendor bills and processes for payment.
Administers Off-boarding process, including paperwork processing, retirement information, employee relations, and departure survey, etc..
Performs other duties as assigned.
