Job Description

The Human Insights Senior Manager, Retail and Shopper Insights will play a critical role on the Human Insights North America Operating Unit (NAOU), responsible for strategic consulting, marketing research and shopper/guest and marketplace analytics in support of developing multiyear channel strategies. This includes co-development of the channel learning plan agenda and connecting & integrating across the Commercial organization and global Human Insights Network.

This role will be responsible for bringing forward relevant guest/shopper/consumer insights to drive strategic business decisions and profitable growth with NAOU’s Commercial Channel Strategy and Planning teams. In this role, the Sr. Manager will identify and communicate insights regarding shopper/guest behaviors and attitudes to drive deeper and long-term strategic planning with commercial teams across all levels. This role will partner most closely with the Channel Strategy team (Food Service and On Premise OR Retail) and will be responsible for providing insights that drive the development and sell-in of multiyear channel and commercial plans, identifying opportunities to build system capabilities and drive marketing and creative programs and merchandising initiatives. In addition, this role will work with relevant Category Leadership team and will interface with the Marketing organization and cross-functional teams (within the NAOU and globally) to ensure effective cross-pollination of knowledge across the newly networked organization, informing strategic initiatives using the power of data, analysis and insights.

What You’ll Do For Us:

  • Co-create development of insights learning plan with Commercial/Portfolio Human Insights lead, Commercial Channel Strategy team and Category Leadership, identifying key knowledge gaps and insights driven opportunities and threats for the channel and our portfolio

  • Lead analytics, insights curation and presentation of insights to channel strategy, ensuring that guest/shopper trends are deeply embedded in multiyear channel plans

  • Develop annual situation assessment, developing data-driven, trackable opportunity frameworks to deploys across the year. Channels of Focus are either Food Service and On Premise (QSR, Fast Casual, FSR Midscale, FSR Casual Dine, Health/Hospital, College & University, At Work) OR Retail (Grocery, Super/Mass, Club, Convenience Retail, Value, Drug)

  • Develop holistic shopper/digital/guest understanding and purchase journey associated with channels and modes of shopping/dining

  • Co-Design and commercialize cross-portfolio disciplines and frameworks (e.g., Human/Consumer/Shopper/Guest Segmentation; Trip Missions; Drinking Moments & Occasions; Game Board; Macro Forces, Tensions and Trends; Points of Inspiration Dashboard; Brand Edge; MDF; etc)

  • Develop national thought partnership for Collaborative Business Planning. Contribute to actionable insights by providing industry analysis, trend identification, topical analysis deep-dives as surfaced across the business and demonstrate thought leadership of emerging behavioral and macroeconomic trends

  • Provide national commercial initiative support (concept development and sell-in) as needed in partnership with NAOU Human Insights Category/Brand insights and deliver Picture of Success insights to support channel planning, merchandising and communication excellence and in-store initiatives

  • Effectively leverage proprietary tracking studies (e.g., DINE, On Premise Landscape, iSHOP, BevMAP) and secondary/syndicated sources (Technomic, NPD/Crest, Datassentials, Nielsen, Numerator, Simmons, Kantar, Scarborough) to identify shopper/guest-centric food service, on premise and/or retail growth opportunities.

  • Provide forecasting and sizing of opportunities

  • As needed, lead the curation and execution of custom research, coupled with investigation of existing proprietary and syndicated data assets

  • Visit and observe retail and food service/ on premise accounts to develop an understanding of the competitive environment and its application to customer needs (e.g., shopper marketing or insights best practices and key strategies)

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or business-related fields

  • 5 or more years of experience in shopper/guest insights, market research/analysis and/or consumer insights with preference for knowledge of shopper marketing, category management or sales

  • Strong aptitude for analytics, holistic analysis, triangulating multiple data sources and business question resolution. Comfortable with both large amounts of data, and qualitative insights. Working knowledge of market research techniques

  • Experience working directly with Marketing or Sales teams and designing, executing and analyzing primary and secondary data related to channels

  • Must be collaborative in nature, comfortable both contributing to and utilizing insights, strategies and activations around our network

Preferred

  • 8 or more years of experience in custom research working for or with a Consumer Packaged Goods manufacturer

  • Master’s coursework or degree in social sciences or business-related fields is a plus

  • Coca-Cola system and/or beverage category knowledge

  • Business Consulting Skills:  Identify opportunities and gaps by via understanding of the business and application of quantitative and qualitative industry, consumer, and syndicated insights

  • Analytic Skills: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify patterns, opportunities and gaps, and integrate across disparate data sources

  • Synthesis and storytelling: Communicate, influence and convince stakeholders through a structured, fact base and action-oriented storytelling

  • Communication Skills:  Communicate complex information and implications both verbally and in written presentations, utilizing "storytelling techniques" to communicate a clear, compelling and cohesive story. Must be able to translate technical/ market research information into compelling business implications and call to action/ recommendation to the business.

  • Collaboration: Form relationships and serve as a trusted partner and advisor to Marketing lead, and share knowledge and best practices across the Insights organization and global network

  • Prioritization: Prioritize through a pragmatic fact-based approach, handling trade-offs, balancing immediate and long-term priorities. Ability to orchestrate multiple stakeholders, delivering the highest priority and solutions in a holistic fashion.

  • Marketing Research Knowledge: Knowledge of custom research methodologies and industry resources (e.g., Ipsos/Kantar, Nielsen/IRI, Mintel, NPD, Numerator, etc.)

  • Technical Aptitude: Learn and effectively use information/business tools and platforms (i.e., CCV, Nielsen Connect, additional primary and third-party insights platforms, MS Office Suite, PowerBI, etc) to obtain and analyze relevant information

  • Agility: Removes barriers to move faster. Experimental mindset and adaptive. Thrives under pressure and fast pace
