Headquarters 1 Group are looking for a motivated individual to join our Chief of Staff team as a Finance & Workforce Business Manager. 1 Group delivers world-class Air Power for the UK by coordinating the fast-jet force elements, the Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting and Reconnaissance force and the Air and Space Warfare Centre. This is a key post in aiding the Headquarters to offer fundamental Support to the Finance and Workforce elements of the 1 Group team.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
The successful candidate is expected to:
Have excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced dynamic environment. They must have some awareness of Civil Service HR and wider finance activities , in addition to being proactive team member with good understanding of IT skills, the ability to engage with end users as well being able to interrogate and provide analysis from the information presented, when required. The role is varied, wide ranging with opportunities to learn and develop personally and professionally in a supportive environment.
• Responsible for monitoring expenditure on Power BI, work with Air Fin on the compilation and analysis of the production of detailed financial reports, business cases and notes of record on behalf of AOC 1 Gp
• Support the In-year budget and forecast, ensuring resources are allocated as directed by the AOC and in accordance with higher level direction, policies, and processes.
• Provide financial scrutiny, costings and advice on financial delegation and affordability.
• Support the Business throughout the planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycles to assure accurate and timely cost capture. This will include input into the Annual Budget Submissions and the resource requirements captured within the RAF Command Plan.
• Support to the financial forecast preparation and entry of relevant information into the appropriate systems as required, as well as monthly monitoring of the financial performance of the business against the baseline and maintenance of auditable financial records.
• Working with business unit staff to help prepare the financial forecast and providing SME financial advice to the Business Area.
• Providing support to Business Partners as required, including, but not limited to:
- Management, analysis and monitoring of financial projects and business case activity.
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly reports for the business area and Financial Business Partners, and the analysis and reporting of financial risks as appropriate
- Providing credible and professional finance support to 1 Gp.
• Management and assurance of CS posts to support 1 GP business activity.
• 1 Gp Workforce Planning to facilitate maintaining the cap level and reaching future targets, being alert to emerging issues and MOD priorities. To be achieved by ensuring workforce resources match 1 Gp outputs to best effect through the Establishment change and recruitment processes, sharing experience and knowledge to create value.
• Engagement with the CS HR Business Manager, CS Workforce Requirements Team and 1 Gp Business Finance Managers as required.
• Act as the line manager for both the current D and E Grades Bus Support Manager in all CS HR workforce, finance matters, encouraging training and development, ensuring staff are given opportunities to broaden their skills.
• Signpost personnel to Civil Service policy, rules and guidance providing assurance of consistent treatment IAW Civil Service Code. By acting as a team player in a calm and constructive manner.
. Act as recruiter and SME for the recruitment of CS positions within 1 Gp.
