The role of the Programme Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the programme’s objectives. You will be key to the smooth running of the project by supporting the programme manager through the operation of programme management processes, and the co-ordination of business management activities.
Day to day activities may include:
- Planning and scheduling – You will implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling of programme activities.
- Monitoring and reporting – You will maintain programme controls, keeping the rest of the programme team and senior leaders aware of the position of the programme. Lead the preparation of performance reports and develop robust performance metrics.
- Resources – You will assist the programme manager in delivering workforce planning and help advise project teams on commercial and financial processes. Supporting them to navigate these in order to deliver objectives.
- Stakeholder – You will manage professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and act as the first point of contact for some of our key partners. Preparing briefing and correspondence for senior leaders and ministers.
- Risks and Issues – You will manage potential risk areas within the programme, working with project managers and escalating as appropriate.
- Development - You will be expected to develop your project delivery skills as part of this role. This will be supported by your line manager and the opportunity to undertake funded project management qualifications and additional training to help you develop.
Essential
- Experience working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience of working in a project environment.
- Willing to obtain project/programme management qualification such as: Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner, PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM Practitioner Qualification or equivalent qualification
