Job Description

The Role
Cigna's Health Service Leadership Program (HLP) Summer Associate Internship is a 10-week experience that will allow you to have an impact on our business while developing a foundation to build your career within healthcare. These valued and robust development experiences could include understanding key stakeholders within the health care ecosystem, client and customer facing experiences, exposure to global markets, leading major projects and initiatives through implementation, supporting and enabling mergers and acquisitions through special projects, and more. Cigna offers summer associates an opportunity to own specific deliverables and work alongside business leaders.

As a Cigna Health Service Leadership Program (HLP) Summer Associate, you will be:

  • Assigned to a business function that encourages you to build your business acumen and strengthen your leadership skills on a project aligned to Cigna's growth strategy
  • Paired with a current HLP Associate to serve as a mentor
  • Exposed to Cigna's executive and senior leaders in smaller, targeted forums
  • Develop and hone your presentation and networking skills
  • Challenged to grow, learn, and contribute to Cigna while having fun

Your Health Service Leadership Program (HLP) summer experience will include:

  • A challenging role project assignment in one of Cigna's key business areas; role project selection is made by our Summer Associates in partnership with the HLP Program Manager. Summer Associates will have an opportunity to meet with multiple role managers prior to ranking their final project preferences.
  • Experiential learning, executive speaker series, group projects, and offsite immersion experiences
  • Leadership development through Cigna's competency based assessment model
  • A supportive and collaborative community of peers
  • Community outreach and charitable events.

The Health Service Leadership Program Summer Associate Internship is the primary entry point to becoming a Full-Time Health Service Leadership Program Associate. Summer associates selected to join the Full-Time HLP will participate in three to four personalized rotational assignments ranging 12-24 months in duration, aligned to Cigna's growth strategy and your personal development goals.

What you need to do the job:

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA, MPH or MHA program with 4 to 5 years of professional experience
  • Passion and dedication to become a business leader in the health service industry
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across a matrixed organization
  • Exceptional business acumen and leadership
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
  • One goal of this internship program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for roles with Cigna post-graduation. Therefore, this temporary internship is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States after college graduation and who would not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Locations:

  • Bloomfield, CT (Cigna Corporation headquarters)
  • Nashville, TN

As our associates progress, they may pursue opportunities in other Cigna locations as determined by business need, in and outside of the United States.

**In addition to a resume, providing a cover letter is encouraged when applying for this role**

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
