Job Description

Head nurse needed!

Our head nurse is relocating to the seaside, so we are looking for someone as fabulous as her to lead what (we think) is the best team of veterinary nurses in the world. The team consists of 4 RVNs, 3 SVNs and 1 PCA, who along with our reception team look after 6 vets.

We are a progressive practice who are passionate about providing the best care we can for our clients and their pets. Our current nurses are a clever bunch, with a DipCVN/DipAVN, certificate in anaesthesia and critical care and advanced cert in feline behaviour. We also have nurses who are working towards wound management and physiotherapy. We also have Advanced Practitioner vets in Feline Medicine and Anaesthesia, with others working towards Surgery, Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging and the Nottingham ACP programme. We are accredited as an RCVS GP practice, with awards in Client Service (Outstanding), Patient Consultation Service (Outstanding) and Diagnostic Service (Good) and are keen to work towards further awards. We have Silver ISFM Cat Friendly status.

Our practice is very well equipped, with 2 multiparameter anaesthetic monitors, 3 warm air patient warming systems, fluid pumps and fluid warmers and digital x-ray including a snazzy CR7 dental x-ray system.

Our perfect candidate will enjoy a mix of medical and surgical cases. You will ideally have either a further clinical qualification or management experience so you can guide our team forwards and make us even better! We will happily support your further development – our Practice Manger is an ex head nurse so can help you find your feet. You will be happy to be a clinical coach for SVNs (training provided if needed) – as you may have noticed we are passionate about training! We would welcome full or part time applicants and can be flexible with hours. There is no OOH associated with this role apart from 1 in 4 Saturday mornings.

Benefits of this position include,

  • A competitive salary up to £38,500 DOE
  • Up to 7 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays with our holiday buy and sell scheme
  • 1 extra day holiday for each year you are with CVS for the first 5 years.
  • Paid professional fees
  • CPD encouraged and funded
  • Pension Scheme
  • Industry leading Maternity/Paternity/Adoption leave benefit
  • A range of other employment benefits including a range of staff discounts
