Job Title: Head of Sales – Internet of Things

VMO2’s Sales Team sits within the Market Development area of Virgin Media O2 Business.

The Team has been crafted to build a UK focussed business that unlocks the potential value of 5G IoT opportunities including Private Networks, Connectivity, Solutions, Devices, etc.

We need an experienced sales leader to lead our IoT sales team to deliver this vision collaborating across delivery units.

Opportunity:

This role is for an experienced Sales Leader reporting to the Head of Sales of VMO2, Market Development, to lead the IoT sales team.

You will be responsible for UK sales in this area; leading and motivating a team of 5-10, the creation of and conversion of the UK Pipeline of Prospects and Clients to achieve sales and revenue targets set out in the UK Business Plan. Sales will typically be Large Enterprises, Public Sector and Small and Medium Businesses (SMB). We are looking for a talented individual with a hunger to capitalise on this fantastic opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Digital Technology Sales, and experience of running and growing strong teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development of team pipeline from a number of existing clients and from new business activities in assigned markets to achieve maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Working closely with senior leaders to develop plans and strategies to expand the customer.

  • The Creation of the Sales Strategy to meet the Business’s Annual and Long Term Financial Objectives
  • Helping each individual team member understand the strategy and focus in their area.
  • Work closely with the Product Team to ensure The Products and Product roadmap aligns with the market, to enable us to meet the Business’s Annual and Long Term Financial Objectives
  • Work closely with the Marketing & PR teams, to ensure we develop case studies, and PR around the products and services, build brand awareness, credibility and inbound leads, as well as to run specific targeted campaigns
  • Work closely with the Heads of the various parts of the VMO2 Enterprise business to ensure they understand the Teams capabilities in the relevant sectors.
  • Ultimate responsibility for prospecting new business opportunities to grow pipeline
  • Accurate Forecasting for business planning purposes
  • Day to day coaching/management of the sales team
  • Handle Client expectations, gain crucial Customer feedback and discover detailed insights, feeding this into the product development process
  • Delivery against defined and agreed sales targets milestones, KPI’s & achievement of Financial Metrics; revenue and profitability
  • Qualify and manage profitable sales opportunities
  • Lead all stages of a sales cycle working effectively across internal teams and client teams.
  • Manage sales admin

Essential skills & Experience:

  • A strong technical understanding of IoT offering (devices, connectivity, data, application and process layers)
  • Personal experience in selling IoT solutions to support client growth.
  • Strong leadership skills to inspire, coach and support the sales team to success
  • Highly motivated individual with a solid background in technical solution sales, customer management and Revenue management. Customer satisfaction and relationship management are key.
  • A track record of achievement of revenue goals
  • Great teammate with a high degree of self-motivation to suit a Startup/ Scaleup mentality.
  • Highly Articulate in front of Clients as well as internally.
  • Ability to listen interpret feedback, and provide insights into the broader business
  • Extensive experience in driving new revenue opportunities and increasing existing revenue streams.
  • A good relationship builder at every level with shown experience of having done this both internally and externally up to board level and including government and public policy bodies
  • Enthusiasm and passion for a new product offering and start-up business
  • Must have a ‘hands-on approach to workload and be agile/flexible in approach.
  • Resilience in complex environments and the ability to deliver in challenging situations.
  • Communication: The successful candidate will demonstrate very high levels of effectiveness both internally and externally with partners and stakeholders, modifying their communication style to the audience.
  • Analytic Skill: Highly strategic and numerate
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: Passionate about innovation and business creation within a corporate framework
  • Excellent presentation skills
